Do You Still Need a Cover Letter in Kenya?
Short answer: yes — especially for banking and finance roles.
While some tech companies have moved away from cover letters, Kenya's banking sector is conservative and relationship-driven. KCB, Equity Bank, Cooperative Bank, Standard Chartered, NCBA, and most microfinance institutions still expect (and sometimes require) a well-written cover letter.

Show you've done research. Mention a specific product, initiative, or value that genuinely resonates.
"I am particularly drawn to KCB's SME banking expansion strategy and the recently launched KCB Biashara Centre in Westlands. My background in SME credit analysis aligns directly with this growth area."
Closing — Confident Call to Action
State you'd welcome an interview. Keep it simple.
"I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience can contribute to KCB's corporate banking growth. I am available for an interview at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your consideration."
